Bo Einarsson NSC LiU Linkoping

Dr. Techn. Bo Einarsson, born 1939, has more than 30 years of experience as a Fortran programmer and as a teacher in Fortran. He has been a principal scientific officer and director of research at the Swedish National Defence Research Institute in Tumba and Umeå. His main area of work there was computational continuum mechanics. He joined Linköping University as director of the university computing center and is now an associate professor in the mathematics department with teaching in Numerical Methods and Fortran Programming. He is also systems manager at the Swedish National Supercomputer Centre, where Fortran is the dominating language on the Cray.

He has been active in the standardization of Fortran and floating point arithmetic, and has founded and been the chairman of the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) working group on numerical software (IFIP WG 2.5). He has 1986 been awarded the IFIP "Silver Core" and is an honorary professor at the Australian Institute for Coordinated Research.
